Woooo Wooooh! Last night was the OK GO / Longwave end-of-tour, all-star, spectacular!
Longwave kicked out the jams with Dan joining them for the last two songs of their set before Steve and Dan indulged in some cautious crowdsurfing. OK Go put on the most poptastic, energetic show I’ve seen them play thus far! Besides Damian’s premature drum-kit bashing I was uber-pleased when they did old favorites like “Its Tough To Have A Crush…” and “Unrequited Orchestra of Locomotion”. The best bit was defiantly when both bands joined forces for a cover of The Smiths “Panic” (which everyone seems to be covering these days) with Steve Longwave on lead vox followed by a stage-trashing conclusion of “Get Over It”!
Post-gig socialization was at an all-time chill. It was nice to be remembered but the whole scene felt very deja-vu. I introduced The Lyn to Damian (whom she proclaimed her undying love to) whilst Alana macked Steve. Miscellaneous observations included Dan making mad eyes at me, Burleigh’s newly shaped eyebrows, Andy’s 70’s pimp-stylee ensemble, and the end-of-tour photo ops. The “party”, if you can call it that, continued at the pub down the street where the anti-climax of the night was he Christopher Walken vs John Travolta impersonations where Damian’s challenged them to “compare and contrast fashion and the National Rifle Association” in character… Oh those wacky popstars!
And God how I loved my bed at 5am this morning!
