is it friday yet?

  • Pete Doherty was arrested again this morning. This has to be his 13739th drugs possession charge in the past month!
  • The Stone Roses' 1989 self-titled debut album has been voted the best British album of all time by NME's writers. The Smiths 'The Queen Is Dead' took 2nd, and Oasis took 3rd with 'Definitely Maybe'. And WHAT THE FUCK is with Arctic Monkeys getting 5th place (higher than Blur, Pulp, The Clash, The Beatles, The Libertines) even though their album was just released this week?
  • Arctic Monkeys refused to perform at next months Brit Awards because they don't like appearing on TV shows - but what does that have to do with an Awards show?
  • I am not having an Arctic Monkeys backlash. Seriously.
  • The sleeve for Morrissey's new album 'Ringleader of the Tormentors'.
  • Roxy Music are back in the studio with Brian Eno, for the first time since 1973!
  • Since Oasis pulled out, James Blunt will be performing will Paul Weller at the Brits. Lame.
  • Stellastarr* have left Sony BMG in the UK.
  • Full details of the new Embrace album.
  • I'm going out to celebrate a friend's birthday tonight so there may or may not be a post tomorrow. We'll all just have to wait and see.

#5? Of all time? This week? You couldn't ask for a more perfect example of the NME hype machine.

Why do they even bother arresting and releasing Doherty? Just keep him in jail and bring him drugs. Easy.
