BSS and the New Pornographers are obvious choices for awesome live performances this year. But I mention them because I don't know whether Canadians appreciate them as much because Candaians can get much more exposure to them.

the only thing the rheo's did this year was break up, which i guess is awesome.

bss are over. (rated). sorry they bug me big time.
new porn's lost there only good member. (neko) again, overrated. sorry.

i'll agree with malajube. decent, fun pop music.

stills made a shit second record.
sam roberts was good not great.
the new k-os record is great.
the new sloan is great.
the new hip is good (maybe great.)
but it might be not enough indie for bloggers.
double sadies live album is fantastic.

no other canadian acts come to mind from the past year.

help me.

Neil Young is still a Canadian. His "Living With War" is a great record. BSS of course, and please don't forget the amazing band "The Constantines" that put out Tournament of Hearts this year on Sub Pop.

For the record,

Neko Case didn't do the entire NP tour, but neither did Bejar. Both are expected to contribute to the next album.

I'd agree on The Dears and The Sadies, too.

But I would have been so much cooler if I had just waited a bit and then said all Canadian music sucks, because it would show how high my standards are;-)
