Yeah, I was fucking pissed off about not hearing about the Noel & Gem show. AND I STILL FUCKING AM!!!

(and I like the MCR single too...but then again, I kinda love the new Robbie Williams record, so I'm starting to think my taste is going downhill...)

a-ha have had 8 studio albums, 13 top 10 UK hits, the record for biggest audience at a concert -196,000 people at Maracana Stadium in Rio. Coldplay, Keane, Kanye West, U2 all rave about them.

Do a little research before you slag off one of the biggest bands of the last 20 years.

What you’ve missed out on!!
a-ha is still live and kicking – actually kicking harder than ever before...

If it wasn't for a-ha you wouldn't have got either Keane and Coldplay - These bands are deeply inspired by a-ha, and love this Norwegian band. Not to forget to add U2 to the list..

a-ha certainly deserved this prize!

Whoops - sorry for the lot of writing mistakes ;-) Had to rush down the words, to make sure you as quickly as possible changed your mind about your statement... :-)

I couldn't agree with you more. What a joke that a-ha won an inspirational award. Hardly anyone remembers them these days.

"Hardly anyone remembers them these days."

Remember???

You are talking about a-ha as if they are belonging to the past. THAT's exactly where you are totally wrong...

Seems like the a-ha mafia is a little touchy.

Had anyone known it would prompt this level of hysterical screeching, I think more people would have been mocking a-ha much sooner.

A few things:
- if you want to know when oasis are in town you might want to subscribe to their newsletter: it's actually very informative and only arrives when needed.

- a-ha are (not were, but ARE)incredibly big in europe. That's where the Q magazine hails from, by the way. If you weren't told to listen to them bar "take on me" do yourself a favour and take a listen. some of the biggest singles of 2000-2004 (that's in europe, again).

- seriously, some of the comments here are sick and need to be deleted. but then again, it's not like the blogger herself puts much effort into this site...

Fen – Thanks! At least I’ll be able to hear what I’m missing!

Thierry – Yeah they’re giving away tickets like crazy on Edge 102 but there’s lots of fans like me who were blindsided. Oh and I have been avoiding the RW album for fear it will break my heart with suckiness.

Mark – Thanks for informing me, I had no idea! And I didn’t “slag” them off – I asked a genuine question – do a little reading before you jump to an assumption.

Locust – That’s really interesting actually. Thanks!

Anonymous – Out of curiousity are you from North America or Europe? Because apparently the Europeans all seem to remember them clearly!

Karl – Ahahah, thanks for making me smile!

Alizee – Thank you for the information on the Oasis newsletter and for telling me what the deal is with A-ha. And for your information I deleted the comments but I do have a day job which is a two hour commute each way from my home so I do what I can with what little free time I can find. Fuck.

IN GENERAL – Some of you A-ha fans are so mean it puts me off the band just knowing meanies like you are fans!

Holly mother of Pete Doherty! I read this blog all the time but never comment, but seeing as you've gotten so much grief, I thought I'd throw in how much I enjoy your posts, even if you can't post as much as you used to.

Oh, and to make you feel even better, apparently The Guardian happens to agree with you. Of course, they have received similar abuse. Not even large media organizations are immune to A-ha fans. Jeeze people. "I think she doth protest too much."

hahah. I'm sure a-ha fans do more damage to the bands reputation with their childish spiteful remarks to anyone who doesn't hero worship their idols. Just ignore them like everyone else......eventually they'll self combust. Your blog is cool. And I'm european... ;)

I aint a big a-ha fan, but from what i can see, its stupid ass ignorant fuckwits slagging off a band that ( whether you like it or not) ARE an inspiration on some of the "cool" bands today that cause all the grief!. I mean WTF? apart from that shitty Take on Me song they have had some great stuff. Is it their fault they were all so god damn good looking? and therefore got labelled a teeny bopper band? I can't believe that so much slagging goes on about a-ha when quite frankly the biggest jokes are Oasis, who couldn't carry a tune in a big fuck off bucket. But they are cool, coz they swear ! Wow how brilliant they are . My fecking arse.

oh goodie - they influenced Keane and Coldplay.. if that's not a reason to deny them an award, i don't know what is!!! viva rock snob!

This is the comment box that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friend. Some people started talking about A-ha, not knowing what they'd done, and they'll continue regretting it forever just because this is the comment box that never ends...

You "aint an a-ha fan"....yes, of course you aren't. Thats why you are merrily slagging off anyone who dislikes the band.

Pull the other foot - its got mickey mouse bells on.

This is indeed the comment box that will never end. Why? Because a-ha fans are so sad they will keep fighting a battle long after its lost. As seen on every other blog who dared criticise their perfect band....who are shit.

I am totally agree with you. It is really a bad joke to give a-ha anything other than One Hit Wonder Award. We really have to question the credibility of that Q "Quirky" Magazine.
