Who would have thought A-ha fans would be so defensive and mean!

Like seriously, I just asked a geniune question people!
Oh and newsflash to Europeans - very few people in North America have heard anything from A-ha since the 80's so give me a freakin break for wondering why they're winning an award.

Fuck!

The only they have done in the last fifteen years is have their band name used in Alan Partridges' catch phrase. A-HA! Don't listen to the 'fans' they are all morons.

Hey Anonymous,

1) Well as a matter of fact I do have an Honours English degree so I believe I am qualified to define the word "snob". Also, I may have misspelled "genuine" but at least I have the sense not to use the term "LOLZ".

2) Do you really have nothing more meaningful in your life to do than point out spelling errors on a blog?

I sincerly hope you get a life. And while you're at it you should try to get laid and lighten the fuck up!

I am still amazed A-ha is together, much less winning an award.

Don't know if it is funny or sad they have such devoted fans!

I have a blurb up on A-ha and their fans today (Wed.) Just don't tell their fans.

It is just hard that a band that one likes as a fan, and that has been releasing records for over 20 years ! is always reduced to their first single song and video.

It's even harder, that for being a fan, you are seen as a moron, because people think that a-ha can be completely summed up by that style of that one song, which they are not.

It's like characterising the Beatles with a song by theirs like :"I want to hold your hand."
Nice song, but they've gone so much further.

Because you always, time and again are getting the same response from people who haven't got a clue, you just tend to get a little bit Touchy after 21 years.
So just when a-ha finally gets a bit of acknowlegment from the music press, the response once again comes:
"a-ha ? from the 80's with that one cartoon video ?"
So yes, you snap.

Instead of immediately sayin: "A-ha ? From Take one me ?", you might first want to do a google, download some album tracks from 1990 and later and just LISTEN to them.
But no; that would be just too much trouble, right ?

Karl - That's awesome! Thanks!

Claudia - I believe my exact words were For example, A-ha won? What’s that about?. I never said anything like "A-ha? From Take On Me?" so don't go putting words in my mouth. SIMMER DOWN. I know what you mean - I like bands like that have been commonly reduced to 'one-hit wonders' too - but it doesn't mean I deserve to be lynched by A-ha fans who are mad at me for asking a genuine question.

Alright, true, you indeed did not exactly say that. :-)

Seems you unfortunately got the backlash that was meant for other people, who have over the years made immediate, knee-jerk, negative, judgemental comments when hearing the name "a-ha", without even knowing the slightest bit about their music beyond Take on me and not willing to listen to anything more, either.

Your comment: "what's that about ?", just sounded a litle bit too much like that, instead of like a genuine question.

Oh well:
Just one of those common internet interpretation mistakes, when you can't see the facial expression, or hear the tone of voice.

Appologies from me, and also on behalf of those other touchy fans.

did you just compare a-ha to the beatles? well, maybe not directly. but characterizing a band (beatles) by one of their 20+ #1 singles known worldwide to a band that north america knows by 1 single 20+ years ago is not the same thing. so a canadian asking about a band (that we know little about) winning an award for whatever the fuck they won it for shouldnt spark an outrage.

so i went to all-music, my source for bands' discographies and typically over-generous reviews. i was trying to decide which 90s album to download; "East of the sun, west of the moon" (3 stars out of 5), or the 1 star out of 5 "Memorial Beach". I think i'll pass for the time being.

now why is it you think they've always been reduced to "their first single song and video". these no-higher-than-3-star reviews might be a start....

now i don't know shit about a-ha, but i could see how one (rock snob) could question why they would win an award, no?

your vocabulary seems rather limited for somebody with an ""honours degree in english". how about using f-words to a slightly lesser extent?
