when the war came

i will always be a libertine

  • I meant to post this yesterday but totally forgot (er, was distarcted by Top Model).
  • New Babyshambles video for "The Blinding". I haven't seen it yet cos I'm never home anymore.
  • Carl Barat said demise of The Libertines nearly killed him.
  • Micheal Eavis is dropping hints about Glastonbury 2007's headliners. Although I would hardly consider "US supergroup" a helpful hint.
  • The Killers have gone and done a Christmas single. Yawn.
  • Geri Halliwell has announced her retirement from the music business. Prolly a wise move but I'll miss her being in the papers and all that.
  • It's been pretty unseasonably mild lately in Toronto... if you pull a "sickie" be sure to avoid these.
  • I saw Casino Royale the other night and it was fantastic! It might even be my favourite Bond movie yet!
  • Does anyone else have that stupid new Windows Live Mail? It never lets me check my e-mail anymore!

one month this christmas eve! already?

  • Glastonbury 2007's proposed dates are June 22-24!! And tickets are expected to go on sale April 1st!
  • Lily Allen's attacking the NME for being sexist. And I have to agree with everything she's saying.
  • Interpol have started working on their third album. Expect lots of "coke" influences.
  • Urban Outfitters is in trouble for their "Glittering Gun" Christmas tree decoration.
  • Rumour has it Colbalt (a.k.a. "the place my boyfriend and I went for our first date") has gone out of business! Say it aint so!
  • Hope all the Yanks have a Happy Thanksgiving weekend!

crack is back... and still whack

  • Pete Doherty continues to disappoint me with another arrest on Saturday for possession of crack cocaine.
  • The Futureheads have left their label and couldn’t be happier about it.
  • Brandon Flowers from The Killers is planning a duet with Razorlight's Johnny Borrell of Dire Straits “Romeo And Juliet”. I have no idea what that song is like but it has potential to be kinda cool based on those involved.
  • Oasis’s new album “Stop The Clocks” has some ridiculous liner notes.
  • Shaun Ryder (Happy Mondays) is having some trouble picking up girls these days.
  • Sugarcubes played a reunion show on Friday night in Reykjavík. Pitchfork has pretty pictures.
  • A ballet featuring music from The White Stripes debuted at London's Royal Opera House on Friday night as well.
  • I friggin love Tina Fey!
  • Dolly Parton is awesome! I hope she lives forever!

    pain

  • Sorry I didn’t post yesterday. I had such a bad headache… that it’s still hanging around today. So I think that’s a pretty good excuse…
  • The new video from Muse for “Knights of Cydonia” is crazy. Me likey.
  • Bloc Party have cancelled the rest of their North American tour dates while their drummer recovers from a collapsed lung.
  • One thing I can now say I like about our Prime Minister…
  • This Zipcars ad has got to be the most depressing thing I’ve seen all day.
  • K-Fed is SUCH a douche. I never thought I’d say this but… Poor Britney!
  • Um yeah. So I haven’t missed much... Or have I?

    vote or die

  • It's Election Day pretty much everywhere (at least in Ontario) today so make sure you get out and vote!
  • Kylie made her comeback last week and she looked fabulous!
  • Blur will never tour again.
  • Rolling Stones went ahead with their Las Vegas show over the weekend despite the death of Mick Jagger's father just hours earlier.
  • Scientists have created a t-shirt that turns the strumming of an air guitar into music. Funniest invention ever.
  • Hungry Girl: Quite possibly, my new favourite website which any girl like me (with a big appetite) will appreciate!

    today gives me headaches

  • Why Britney left K-Fed and why Pete Doherty’s on the SlimFast diet.
  • Speaking of, Pete’s been fined for assaulting a reporter. He's never been good at the 'role model' thing.
  • Here’s a funny interview Noel Gallagher did with Exclaim!
  • Also from NME, Noel Gallagher feels like “the fantasy's gone out of making music” because its “too real” now. He prefers the olden days when he actually believed David Bowie was from Mars.
  • Christopher Walken playing Ozzy Osbourne is pretty much on of the funniest things I can imagine.

the split we've been waiting for

  • Whoa! Britney's finally divorcing K-Fed! Well done!
  • Noel Gallagher's acoustic Toronto show (with Gem) will be aired on The Edge (102.1) tonight starting at 9.
  • Uncut have listed their "Top 20 Albums of 2006". Truth be told, I've only bothered to listen to like a dozen of the albums on that list.
  • Johnnny Marr played his first show with his "new band" Modest Mouse yesterday. Torr has video.
  • The Flaming Lips were robbed on the first night of their UK tour last weekend. The thief resembled a "whippet" - whatever that is.
  • Time magazine has declared YouTube to be "Invention of the Year" for 2006.

    blah monday

    Friday, November 03, 2006

    its finally friday!

  • Kanye West lost it at the MTV Europe Music Awards. It's like an even more pathetic version of the "Wu Tang is for the children" incident at the Grammy's in '98.
  • BlogTO have posted their monthly music calendar for Toronto this November. I'm still depressed about the lack of rocking this past "Rocktober".
  • Borat is getting amazing reviews! Like we're talking universal acclaim! I'm seeing it this weekend I think so I'll let you know how it goes down.
  • Have an excellent weekend everyone (except mean a-Ha fans, you can go fuck yourselves)!
