up all night... again

  • Wow! Absolutely nothing of interest is happening today!
  • Sadly, no one was at the airport to welcome Pete Doherty back to Albion. Poor thing.
  • Matador has released an MP3 of "Another Sunny Day" by Belle & Sebastian for fans wanting a taste of the new album.
  • Chromewaves' MP3 download this week is The Magic Numbers covering Beyonce's "Crazy In Love". I still definately prefer the Snow Patrol cover with the bad rapping.
  • Some poor girl in Quebec got the kiss of death from her boyfriend. (From Boadwee)

waiting for pete doherty to die?

  • Woohoo! I have been added to the list of Top Pop Music Blogs! Check out the full listing here! Sweet!
  • Uh oh! Pete Doherty's already checked out of rehab...
  • Big thanks go out Heather who referred me to Revolution In The Head which has posted a song by The Indelicates called "Waiting For Pete Doherty To Die". Obviously I don't want to like it... but I really do! It's a good song!
  • Dear Kate Moss, please don't ruin my favourite Christmas song of all-time ("Fairytale of New York") or I'll be very sad. Thank you.
  • The Gallagher brothers are at it again...
  • If you wanna discover some new music you might want to play around with this little gem. I've heard it referred to as "musical crack" before.

gin in teacups and leaves on the lawn

  • Ladies and gentlement, as promised... The 33 hottest bands in Canada! I think its an excellent list - especially since all 10 of my nominees made the cut. Respect to Matthew at i (heart) music for all his hard work in compiling the list.
  • Yessss! Pete Doherty flew to America on Saturday and checked himself into rehab at The Meadows clinic in Arizona where (ex-?)girlfriend Kate Moss was recently treated. He's choosing her over drugs! It must be love!
  • Pete Doherty is no longer #1 on the NME Cool List - Alex Turner from Arctic Monkeys is. I think Liam Gallagher got robbed.
  • Idlewild have left their record label EMI/Parlophone. It should also be noted that frontman Roddy Woomble recently got hitched - which kinda saddens me because I used to have a massive crush on him (at least until I met him).
  • Franz Ferdinand play "imtimate gig" at children's hospital. Bless'em.
  • Thierry's famous. He appears in the new BRMC video right after the the first chorus and plays with his hair. It's a very pretty cameo.
  • Yesterday I came across this bad Morrissey comic and felt obligated to share.
  • Whoa! All my really really ridiculously good-looking girlfriends better apply to be Canada's Next Top Model!!!

  • Paul Weller is receiving the Outstanding Contribution to British Music award at the 2006 Brit Awards.

  • Thanks to Matt who informed be that Mansun are releasing a greatest hits collection next year and it features a DVD of all their singles plus backstage and live footage over their career. Sweet.
  • Gary Glitter has been arrested in Vietnam for kiddie-fiddling. So much troubs.
  • David Bowie to star in a movie opposite Michael Caine. Interesting.
  • I really need to focus on school for the next few weeks so I'm warning you that updates might be sporadic until mid-December. I'll do what I can.

i will keep you on my mind

  • Pete Doherty has digitally removed his former manager James Mullord from the new Babyshambles video for "Albion" because Pete's convinced Mullord was the one that sold the Kate Moss cocaine pics to the tabloids.
  • Speaking of... Kate Moss looks absolutely stunning in this shot from the 2006 Pirelli calander. (NSFW)

  • This made me laugh. (From this weeks Holy Moly!)
  • Stereogum claims Rumble Strips are the new Arctic Monkeys. Thoughts?
  • If you like Suede/The Tears you might be interested in this interview with Brett and Bernard. Personally I found it rather dull.

  • How cute were The Subways on The O.C. last night?
  • Do you live in New York City? Are you willing to let me crash on your couch/floor on New Years Eve? If so please email me!

in the future when all's well

dirty dancefloors and dreams of naughtiness

  • Arctic Monkeys did not disappoint last night. The band put on a killer show and, for once, I wasn't the only one dancing! There were drunken louts, singalongs to unreleased songs, and good times all around. Shout outs to fellow bloggers Rebecca and Dart who I caught up with at the show!
  • Morrissey's describes his new album as “the most beautiful, perhaps the most gentle, so far”.
  • Chart has reviewed Art Brut's recent Toronto show.
  • Pitchfork didn't totally destroy Babyshambles in their review of 'Down In Albion'.
  • In case you don't have it yet here's the new single from The Strokes, "Juicebox".
  • The Beastles mash-up!

    Monday, November 14, 2005

    go art brut! go!

  • I saw Art Brut last night and they totally blew me away.
    Some of the highlights:
    - After the lyric “Stay off the crack” we were told to stay away from Pete Doherty because “he’s a bad man”.
    - The bass amp caught on fire during the third song.
    - Eddie led a Q&A session for 5 minutes while the smoke cleared.
    - Eddie went out in to the audience for “Modern Art” walking around the Lee's Palace screaming “Modern art makes me want to rock out” without a mic.
    - Everyone who attended has to form a band. Or Eddie will come back and be very disappointed in us.

  • - The band look like they're having incredible amounts of fun onstage and their enthousiasm is contagious.
    - They're all very lovely people.
    - At the end of the night I was coerced into having
a picture of me and Eddie Argos and Ian from the band taken.
Anyway, the moral of the story is that Art Brut are fucking brilliant. If you have the chance, go see them.
  • Tonight’s the Arctic Monkeys show (so if you're going and you see me there say hello) and for those of you not going I’ll make sure you hear all about it tomorrow.

  • Hate on him all you want but Robbie Williams has been named the most successful musician in the UK so far this century. Coldplay and U2 can suck it!
  • Don't do it Lohan! The novelty of Uni wears off by the fourth year and then it just destroys your social life and crushes your soul.
  • Is it just me or was Kate Moss looking much hotter hooked on the crack?
  • I think I'm going to have to go see Sarah Silverman: Jesus Is Magic if only for the song used in the trailer. (Link from Thierry)
