everything's brilliant in Leeds?

  • Pete Doherty let his former prison cellmate join Babyshambles onstage. Yeah, that's just the kind of people Pete needs to join his entourage.
  • Charlotte Church calls Pete Doherty a wanker.
  • Brody Dalle and Josh Homme to have a boy! They're naming him "Cash" after Johnny Cash.
  • Kate Bush announces details of her new album... it's been 12 years since her last one.
  • David Bowie is playing with The Arcade Fire next month at Fashion Rocks.
  • Art Garfunkel got busted for pot. Again.
  • The Futureheads say their new album is about paganism. Are they joking or serious? I can never tell.
  • Leeds is coming up!!! You can download "I Love You, But" by The Research over at Fluxblog but don't think it's that impressive.
  • Garbage have cancelled their forthcoming European tour due to exhaustion.
  • Download new Echo and The Bunnymen over at Scenestars.
  • I'm aiming to move back into my apartment tomorrow. There may or may not be a post.

    sweet troubled soul

  • Pete Doherty and Johnny Borrell (Razorlight) got into a major scrap backstage at the Carling Weekend's Leeds Festival on Sunday night. It's all Pete's fault. So much for his recent attempts to calm himself with yoga.
  • There are some video previews up the new Pete Doherty site "Bala Chadha". Watch Pete be silent! Watch Pete sing! Watch Pete sleep!
  • I wish I was Andrew Kendall... or dating him.
  • Kylie retiring as early as next year? Nooo!
  • Paris Hilton is in Toronto this Thursday to promote her new fragrance. I didn't know about this! And even worse, I don't think I'll be able to go gawk at her in person!
  • I'd write more but I don't want to. Have a nice day.

    i am canada's fucking wonderland

  • Every year the MTV VMA's never cease to amaze me with how incredibly SHITE they are. I can't imagine a bigger waste of an evening. Read crap about it here.
  • Marion "Suge" Knight got shot at a party in Miami. Unfortunatly he's expected to live.
  • Last night I made a post summarizing what happened at Leeds and Reading but it wasn't the only music festival to go down over the weekend...
  • ...The "husband" called from Creamfields, the "Best Dance Festival in the UK", on Saturday night... I didn't get any details from the festival besides a list of numerous drugs being ingested... So I assume it was a fucking great time.
  • Pete Doherty to post home movies online! My wallet is ready and waiting!
  • Lady Sovereign is set to work with Jay-Z who also promised to hook her up with Missy Elliot and The Neptunes!!!
  • Goldie Lookin Chain are back with a hilarious new vid for "Your Missus Is A Nutter". I FUCKING LOVE IT and you should too.
  • Russell Crowe bashes Bono and Bob Geldof! Plus he throws telephones at people's faces with amazing accuracy! WE HEART HIM!
  • I'm being a good person and taking my "Little Sister" to Canada's Wonderland for the day - with her teenage brothers (because I don't know how to say "no" to people) - so, I warn you, tomorrow's update might be a little late.

    carling weekend

    Friday, August 26, 2005

    in the morning

  • Today is my last day on the job and I have to start at 7am for our charity golf tournament so all you get today is a teeny tiny post... Gimme a break, IT IS 6am.
  • The "Who the Fuck Is Pete Doherty?" documentary is airing this weekend in the UK. Read an article about it. (Thanks KC!)
  • The White Stripes on the cover of the new Rolling Stone. Jack looks fucking strange (the new normal) and Meg's never looked better.
  • “People Need A Break From Us!” say Bloc Party. Damn right.
  • Noel Gallagher on The Futureheads... "Quite simply the fucking weirdest band in Britain. I've no idea what their music is about, or what it means, but I fucking like it."
  • There are rumours that Liam Gallagher and Nicole Appleton got hitched. I doubt it. He doesn't seem all that keen on commitment.
  • The new issue of Vice is 'The Animals Issue'.
  • The Carling Weekend (Reading and Leeds festivals) is all going down this weekend! Wish I was there!
  • Thursday, August 25, 2005

    apolcalypse? now?

  • The anonymous fucktard (of "fuck yo couch" fame) struck again in yesterday's comments section! Let's give them the attention they're so very desperate for!
  • Morrissey will begin recording his new album in Rome next week - Torr has all the details!
  • Kasabian get all bitchy and criticize Franz Ferdinand's fashion sense. Note to Kasabian: starting fights does not make you the new Oasis.
  • Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys says Salvador Dali's art is "tacky". I kind of agree.
  • Jack White is contemplating selling out to Coke. I think he'd be stupid not to.
  • XFM has a listening post where you can check out all of the nominees for this year's Mercury Prize.
  • I just bought new pink sheets but now I need new pink Morrissey sheets!
  • I can't believe ANYONE believed this hoax about someone being murdered with an iPod.
  • Check out the cover of Nicole Richie's new book. Non-existant boobs not pictured.
  • Holy Shit! Kevin Federline actually got a job! Is the world ending and did someone just forget to tell me?
  • Wednesday, August 24, 2005

    gonna make somebody lucky

  • Yesterday's comments were awesome! Someone called me a "fucking couch" or something (maybe he meant "cooch" but "couch" is much more fitting!) Thanks for the cheap entertainment kids!
  • Babyshambles are rushing to complete their debut album in time to release it by the year's end. I like the part where they refer to the bandmembers being interviewed as the "two of the-three-that-aren’t-Pete" - that says it all really.
  • Watch the new Franz Ferdinand video for "Do You Want To"! It's really fabulous and over the top - like the modern day equivalent of something Damien Hirst would have done 10 years ago... In fact, it's so good that it has even made me really LIKE the song. Ladies and gentlemen, I am the living testament to the power of a good music video.
  • Torr has a link where you can stream new Starsailor and Kaiser Chiefs. Meh.
  • Take Your Medicine has an MP3 of the Foo Fighters covering Oasis' "Lyla" for radio. I definately prefer the original. I hate when Dave gets all growly.
  • Robbie Williams confirms a new album 'Intensive Care' to be preceded by the new single "Tripping". Because you know, deep down, that you care.
  • Only these two could upstage Jessica Simpson at her own premiere... They're even worse than Britney and Kevin Federline! Actually they're BETTER than Britney and Kevin when it comes to being White Trash!
  • Kate Moss bought a new pad. I wonder if Pete's considering a move to L.A.?
  • Lisa Moorish (Kill City) was captured out with the kids. Estile's daddy is Pete Doherty (has his eyes) and Molly's dad is Liam Gallagher (has his eyebrows)... Best family ever!
  • EVERYONE who's ANYONE is coming to the Toronto International Film Festival this year. That means you only have two weeks to prepare for some serious star-stalking!
  • Tuesday, August 23, 2005

    tits

  • Kaiser Chiefs, The Go! Team, Belle & Sebastian and Damien Rice have been added to the War Child 'Help' compilation! Sounds like a doozy.
  • October 13 will be John Peel Day in the UK. He will be celebrated and remembered with as many gigs as possible being staged in his name.
  • Babyshambles "Fuck Forever" entered the UK singles chart at #4! Fuckin right!
  • Scenestars has Franz Ferdinand's "Do You Want To" avails for download. If you want to.
  • Bedouin Soundclash are fucking TERRIBLE... And anyone who argues otherwise can fuck right off.
  • Courtney Love and Steve Coogan both deny procreating. Thank God.
  • I always thought I wanted smaller boobs but after checking out Nicole Ritchie's titties (or lack thereof), I've come to the conclusion that, on women, nipples without boobies beneath them look ridiculous... In an 11-year-old boy kinda way.
  • Monday, August 22, 2005

    don't lean on me man

  • So V Festival happened over the weekend and everything I heard sounded great!
  • Oasis were fucking brilliant and Liam Gallagher referred to Pete Doherty as "one big cock" onstage.
  • The inflatable dinosaur made famous by its emergence during the Kaiser Chiefs set at Glastonbury made another appearance this weekend at V. While Ricky Wilson was able to make it through the performance despite his injury, sadly, the Kaisosaur was killed by the crowd's enthousiasm.
  • Franz Ferdinand and Scissor Sisters got together onstage to perform a cover of Bowie's "Suffragette City". Hot.
  • Read about the backstage demands of some artists... Some wanted KFC and pies - while others wanted strippers.
  • Courtney Love has escaped jail time... but not rehab.
  • And now Courtney's claiming to be pregnant with Steve Coogan's baby? WTF! (For the record, he calls the claim "ridiculous".)
  • Dr. Moog is dead.
  • Oh Tara... Why do I even bother defending you.
  • Friday, August 19, 2005

    up up and away

  • Eminem is in hospital being treated for an addiction to sleep medication.

  • Radiohead are back in the studio! Hurrah!
  • Listen to the V Festival happening this weekend on Virgin Radio! (Link from Live Net Music)
  • Dear God, please let Supernanny meet Oasis. I want her tell them that their behaviour is not "asseptable".
  • Rilo Kiley's Jenny Lewis got fugged! She had it coming!
  • Take a peak at the new America's Next Top Model contestants! Have fun guessing who's gonna be the bisexual one, the anorexic one, or the one that eats too many croissants and gets fat, this season!
  • Have a big bad weekend everyone!
  • Wednesday, August 17, 2005

  • So THAT's how Jack Osbourne lost all that weight. Lazy fucker.
  • I have a tummyache and there's no real news happening so that's all folks.
  • Tuesday, August 16, 2005

    happy britpop day!

  • The 10th Anniversary of Britpop is upon us! I encourage you to worship however you see fit! Read all about it's origins! And if you live in the UK watch the specials airing tonight on BBC Four (I'd also appreciate if someone could try to tape it for me please)!
  • PETA are honouring Morrissey at their 25th Anniversary Gala! Sadly, Moz will not be attending the event next month.
  • Poor old Leonard Cohen is broke.
  • Pete Doherty needs to learn to be discreet.
  • Esquire magazine named Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos one of the Best Dressed Men In The World.
  • Oasis are insulted Maroon 5 are on the same bill with them. Rightfully so.
  • Shaun Ryder's gone on a diet. I'd say something rude here but I'm not in a position to judge.
  • The Sun have a feature on Lady Sovereign.
  • Mike at Take Your Medicine is back in action!
  • Read my girl Sarah's review of "Last Days" for Chart.
  • Tonight you can bet I'll be watching "Tommy Lee Goes To College".
  • Another reason to love Janice Dickinson!
  • Monday, August 15, 2005

    pete doherty is not innocent

  • Pete Doherty was arrested on Friday for drug posession (crack cocaine, heroin) in Norway. Festival organizers where Babyshambles were scheduled to play had to bail him out and when he finally took to the stage (5 hours late) he VOMITED. Ugh.
  • I hope you join me tomorrow and celebrate the 10th anniversary of wonderful, glorious Britpop by listening to a special night on BBC FOUR!
  • Cameron is right to point out "Jack White is perpetuating the myth that he is the new Michael Jackson with the presence of dancing, little children" in the new White Stripes video for "My Doorbell".
  • Paris Hilton has traded Tinkerbell in for a smaller model.
  • I like these girls. They remind me of me at their age.
  • Just a quickie post today as I'm still enjoying my DIY long weekend.

    a certain romance

  • The Rolling Stones played there secret show at the Phoenix last night. More details here.
  • The Subways are gonna be on The O.C.! I can't wait to see Mischa Barton shimmy along to "Rock And Roll Queen"!
  • Pete Doherty has a 48-year-old fan that acts as a surrogate mother of sorts. Check her out. That poor woman's got her hands full with him.
  • Courtney Love's in trouble again. She failed a drug test and thus violated her probation. Silly girl.
  • Dodge has Arctic Monkeys downloads! I love it... And, speaking of, thanks to everyone who emailed me with hook-ups. MWAH.
  • I actually watched Muchmusic for a whole 15 minutes last night and I caught the video for Greenday's "Wake Me Up When September Ends". About halfway through the damn thing I was crying during the big porch scene thinking that the girl character was upset the Billy Elliot dude had cheated on her - not upset he joined the goddamn war effort as it turned out. UGH. War does really ruin everything. Miss Modernage has her take on it.
  • This Saturday night Port Dalhousie will attempt to break the World Record for a Toga Party thus proving (to myself mostly) that you don't always need to go into the big city to have a good time my fellow suburbanites.
  • Wednesday, August 10, 2005

    kiss you better

  • Pete'n'Kate are back on! Mariah found me these paparazzi shots of Pete Doherty and Kate Moss looking very-much-back-together in London yesterday. I don't care what anyone says, I think they're adorable!

  • My Dad has started telling people I'm moving to Glasgow and sending me links like this one to remind me what I'm missing out on... Whatever his plan is, it's working.
  • Tuesday, August 09, 2005

  • Monday, August 08, 2005

    it seems so easy

  • Benicàssim went down in Spain this weekend. The Cure revealed plans to release a new album next year, my new favourite band Maximo Park covered The Streets, Kasabian continued kissing Gallagher ass, and of course Kaiser Chiefs stole the show. Check out photos.
  • "'Madman' Doherty Shocks Documentary Crew". Essentially, the BBC camera crew that filmed Pete Doherty for four months for an upcoming documentary, "Who The Fuck Is Pete Doherty?", call him a "madman on drugs" and are concerned he won't make it to his next birthday. More disturbing details from News Of The World. Scary.

  • I hate this new I-have-to-pay-people-to-help-me-gain-weight Lindsay Lohan. (Thanks Mariah)

  • Stereogum and Let It Blog both directed me to Something Awful's amazing Cliffs Notes version of R. Kelly's "Trapped In The Closet". This shit is brilliant.
  • Wednesday, August 03, 2005

The Toronto Star and Canoe (Toronto Sun) have posted reviews of
the band's concert in Toronto last night.

give me a plane crash where everybody survives..."

    sunshine on a rainy day

  • A collective sigh of relief in the greater Toronto area tonight. It's a miracle.
  • Coldplay's "Fix You" is, like, the prettiest sad song of the summer. Check out the video. I can't help but get weapy watching it... Oh and the band played Air Canada Centre tonight and recently shared their thoughts on Canada with Chart. They're very complimentary. Bless.

  • According to Torontoist, the best outdoor places to makeout in the city are: Mallory Green (#1), The Rosedale Ravine (#2), Northern Secondary School Bleachers (#3), The Front Street Fountain (#4), and Queen Street West (#5). I've only scored at one of out the 5 (that I can remember anyway). I'm so ashamed.
