do they know it's (almost) halloween

  • Excellent news! MuchMoreMusic is airing the Pete Doherty documentary Who the F**k is Pete Doherty on November 11th at 6 and 10pm! I'm way too excited! Thanks Kat!
  • Sharon Osbourne talks about Pete and sheds some good insight.
  • Patrick Wolf is not a thief! So I guess he's not the new Pete Doherty after all!
  • Jarvis Cocker speaks. In a sexy voice naturally.
  • Belle & Sebastian have named their new album 'The Life Pursuit'. It's out in the UK on February 6th.
  • The new Madonna video for "Hung Up" is online for anyone who hasn't realized that Madonna is so totally over (it's all about Goldfrapp now)... Ugh... Its like bad Kylie Minogue... and obviously significantly less sexy.
  • The best boobs in Hollywood... are debatable.
  • Happy Halloween partying this weekend you Halloweeners.

    tabloid

  • So the Kaiser Chiefs video for "Modern Way" is fucking odd. But I must admit it's grown on me. And Ricky looks very dishy.
  • The Gorillaz video for "Dirty Harry" is fun - not to mention a killer track.
  • Goldie Lookin Chain protest about homelessness and bad housing in Cardiff. I just wish there was video footage.
  • If you don't already have it, download "The Fallen" by Franz Ferdinand from Fluxblog because its great I enjoy its clever use of the word "Kunst".
  • And if you're a fan of his work, Rachel has created Ryan Adams Radio which has pretty much everything he's ever done in the studio (and a few bootlegs) available for your listening pleasure.
  • Nooo! Not the Beckhams!
  • Did anyone else notice that last night on Jeopardy they had a category on The O.C.? Did anyone else have a friend awesome enough to call them and inform them of that? I THINK NOT! Thanks Mariah!
  • Tonight's the night we've all been waiting for... TABLOID! It's gonna be awesome because I'm gonna be there! Come out and dance and drink and screw - because there's nothing else to do (on a Wednesday night).

    what a life on mars

  • Pete Doherty wrote an article in The Guardian today about why he should write the anthem for his favourite football team, Queens Park Rangers.
  • "Damon Albarn Wrestles Shaun Ryder". Best story I've read in ages (even if it's a complete lie)!
  • Have the Arctic Monkeys changed the music business? Uh, yeah!
  • The Guardian have a feature on Franz Ferdinand.
  • Chart talk to Art Brut. I can't wait for their show!
  • Ricky Wilson collapsed after a recent Kaiser Chiefs show. Methinks he's the hardest working man in indie rock'n'roll.
  • Chris Martin mistakes duck for cabbage. LIES! Just admit it Chris, you wanted to eat that duck!
  • Robbie Williams is losing it. NSFW.
  • The 'Horror' issue of Vice is online. Get some last minute costume ideas.
  • I want to go to this!
  • Tomorrow is the big night... TABLOID at The Social! The DJ's are hot and the music will be brilliant so you should definately BE THERE!
  • Monday, October 24, 2005

    fuck you mondays

  • Arctic Monkeys are #1 on the UK Singles Chart!
  • Liam Gallagher offers his (always brilliant) opinion on Pete'n'Kate.
  • Kissing up pays off. Kasabian have started work on their new album in Oasis' studio.
  • Scenestars has Lady Sov's "Hoodie" for download but it's not that great in my opinion (compared to her other stuff).
  • I broke my iPod. And I've only had it for less than 2 weeks. I am fucking gutted.
  • Friday, October 21, 2005

    push the button

  • Ricky Gervais interviewing Chris Martin = BEST THING EVS!
  • 'New Radiohead Material Surfaces Online.' Er, not really.
  • The Guardian has a feature on Maximo Park who I think are genius!
  • Garbage was killing Shirley Manson but now that they've split she's doing much better.
  • Ricky Wilson plans to do some snooping when the Kaiser Chiefs visit Prime Minister Tony Blair's home. Gee, way to raise suspicion there Ricky!
  • Mike informed me that the new Arctic Monkeys single will be "Scummy" or "Sun Goes Down" (as they're now calling it).
  • Dodge posted some Lady Sovereign remixes. That's a good boy.
  • Who knew there was a "Do They Know It's Halloween?" music video! Certainly not me!
  • Boadwee Blog likes the same stuff we do so we're gonna be friends.
  • OMG! This is gonna be awesome! The Duke Spirit are absolutely BLISTERING live.
  • The countdown is on to Tabloid. Come out and meet me.
  • AND to celebrate it being Friday (and the end of midterms), I'd like to offer up 3 pop songs for your listening (dis)pleasure... Because after all, I may be the living embodiment of rock'n'roll but I'm still entitled to the many joys of listening to a cheesy pop song.
    1.
    Sugababes - "Push The Button"
This is just a brilliant pop song. Like all of the singles from Sugababes. Absolutely brilliant.
    2.
Rachel Stevens - "I Said Never Again (But Here We Are)"
It's no "Some Girls" but it does contains the very suggestive line, "I let you in my back door".
    3.
    Charlotte Church - "Crazy Chick"
This is BY FAR the cheesiest pop song I've heard all year - but I make the obsession because I love Charlotte Church for being a busty bad-ass boozer... She actually sings the line, "you got my acting like a whacked-out chick". Seriously. It needs to be heard to be believed.

Anyway, don't take the music too seriously! Have a great weekend everyone!

ooh get me away from here i'm dying

  • Franz Ferdinand are playing a show in Toronto tonight! I will not be attending as I have to prepare for a presentation tomorrow... I'm not happy about it one bit. Everyone who's going needs to have extra fun on my behalf!
  • Tickets for Lady Sovereign's show in Toronto on December 3rd are on sale! I dont know if I can go yet!?!
  • The Who, The Kinks and Joy Division/New Order will be inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame this November. I wonder why it took so long?
  • Click on "Born Again" to view lovely candid black-and-white photographs of Pete Doherty by Hedi Slimane from his new book, "London: Birth of a Cult".
  • Arctic Monkeys call The Libertines and Babyshambles "pretentious". Ouch!
  • Kasabian recently turned a classy yacht party into a booze cruise. Well done boys.
  • Carl Barât's got Supergrass playing a set at his club night, Dirty Pretty Things, in London on Saturday. I am so on the wrong continent.
  • Kaiser Chiefs are on the cover of this week's NME. For what feels like the 6th time this year... Also, the band's new DVD will tell the story of the Kaisers from childhood through to 25 years in the future. It is narrated by Bill Nighy which immediately makes it awesome by association.
  • Chris Martin paid £20,000 for a lunchbox designed by REM's Michael Stipe at a charity auction. It was for a good cause. And, more importantly, he outbid Bono.
  • I might not be able to post tomorrow so I apologize in advance. I'll do what I can.

  • Happy John Peel Day!
  • New Order kicked off the Peel Day celebrations last night in London and played a set entirely comprised of Joy Division songs!

  • Hope everyone had a great weekend! Yesterday I got a little older (22!) so thanks to everyone that remembered!
  • Glastonbury 2005 has been praised by officials as the safest one yet! I dunno about that, I got some pretty harsh bruises from falling in the mud and I'm pretty sure I've never been more fucked up in all my life! All the same, it looks like Glasto 2007 will be a go and you can count on me being there in all my drug-and-drink-fuelled glory!
  • The Q Awards happened yesterday and Liam Gallagher and Chris Martin managed to avoiding scrapping in the parking lot. (Here's what really happened.)
  • XFM has the Q Awards backstage gossip.

  • The Guardian reckon Franz Ferdinand are poised to break America. I wish.
  • Kate Moss is on the new cover of the new issue of W magazine (looking like a hot alien) and she has apparently had no contact with Pete Doherty since entering rehab. Suuure.
  • Go Sienna! That girl is sex on legs!
  • Happy Thanksgiving! I'm bored!

    dirty pretty things

  • T-H-I-E-R-R-Y sent me this article about Kate Moss a few days ago and was right to point out that if you change the names, you could very well be describing certain social circles in Toronto.
  • Pray for Katie Holmes and her scientologist/alien baby.
  • This is tragic in the funniest way possible!

  • Morrissey has named his new album 'Ringleader Of The Tormentors'.
